“When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place.” II Chronicles 7:13-15 (NIV)

Communing requires us to focus on God, to talk with him, often with concentrated effort, creating a bond, sharing our heart and mind with Him.  How is this done?  In prayer! Prayer is the way we communicate with God who created us and saved us because he desires to be in a relationship with us.

Scripture tells us that without prayer we are deprived of communion with God and that can be compared to a dry and barren tree, which is cut down and thrown into the fire (Matt. 7:19)

When we commune with God it allows us to develop a relationship that is like a relationship with anyone else in our life.  It cultivates fellowship, love, and trust between one another.  Communing with God positions our hearts to commune with man, He said in his word that we can’t love Him and hate our brothers. We have to take the time for both.

PRAYER:  Father God, early we seek you because when we do it positions us to connect with you on a personal level, not basing our relationship on what others have told us about you.  When we commune with you we learn to commune well with others.  This is an important aspect of our life here on earth.  Thank you for desiring us to be in a relationship with you and your creation.  In Jesus’ name, we pray!  Amen!!
